That is wonderful that you are enjoying the babies. When I was doing the NICU clinical, I got used to it and then I enjoyed the babies. The babies that I saw in there were so tiny and I was afraid to touch them for the fear that they would get hurt by my touch. After much thinking regarding that, I figured that they needed my touch in order to heal and to get better. So, I got over my fear and started touching them more and more. The information that would be helpful to you would be to get a book through Amazon or even Barnes and Noble bookstore on nursing terms; especially in the NICU. You could also look online at ebooks and see if they have any nursing textbooks; especially when it comes to neonatal and nursing jargon words like nursing medical language. I hope this helps you. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

Hi all! I was transferred to NI (from ER) as a tech. I'm going into my last semester of nursing school in August. I fell in love with the babies when I did my LD rotation (never in a million years expected that!) Anyway, are there any good resources to get me familiar with language that refers specifically to NICU care? I haven't had any critical care in school yet, just very basics of LD and a few preterm complications. The NI is a level 4 regional center. They do ecmo, hypothermia, and something else (I can't remember) exclusively at that facility for the region. All suggestions welcome!
