Can you tell me more about the Unitek program? I am getting on the RN waitlist in March for Grossmont, city, and southwestern (when I finish Micro) the last of my prerequisites. I would really like to start a VN program as early as April 08, but is the January cohort still enrolling? Do they have a night program?

Hey SDmamma, did you get into Micro at Grossmont for Spring? I'm already enrolled. :) That is my last pre-requisite class. When I am licensed and my micro is over I'm going to apply at Grossmont.

I've heard that you can get in faster if you are an LVN. Is that true anyone? Anyone know?

I've seen some LVN's at Kaiser here in San Diego but most are in the clinics. Plus they want LVN's to have a year of experience. A good way to get that is go to a long term acute care.

That is so exciting that a new LVN school is starting right here in La Mesa. Please let us all know how it goes harvmania! Where is the school's location in La Mesa? Where will you be doing your clinicals?

Our school used to go to Mercy Hospital but they said they no longer wanted LVN's there. But Kaiser welcomes us. Doing all your clinicals in nursing homes (like another poster here said) would not get a student the best experience because you really need a diversity.

Hey Fairewand. I am taking Micro at NU and It starts in February, ending March 29th.

Also, Kaiser does hire LVN's, my husband, mother in law, and BFF all work for Kaiser and they still hire them. I have heard nothing about them "phasing out" the LVN's in 08. Kaiser did do this at one point, but they began hiring them again in 03, so I highly doubt that they'd do it again so soon.

Hello just looking at postings on the ROP LVN program with the Adult ED.....I am getting nervous....my test date is Feb 14th. I get like this when I take any test....I mean I have my A&P, Micro all done, have started a basic pre-algebra course for a refresher.....but wanted to know just how hard is this test? I wasn't able to go to there classes for this specific test to brush up? So now I am feeling very nervous.??? Anyone

You mean the TEAS test? I've never taken that so don't know anything about it.

Are you applying to the one in Santee?

Just an update. I dropped that Microbiology class :( I am studying for the NCLEX exam now so have to concentrate on that. Couldn't do them both. And my teacher for the nclex class said to everyone that we should not be taking any college classes at this time. We need to concentrate on the NCLEX. I hope this doesn't put me back another year to becoming an RN.

I am studying all day and I really couldn't have handled Micro at this time.

Well my nursing entrance exam card reads the ATI Test of Academic Skills, for the Santee Adult Ed, LVN Program aka Grossmont Health Occupations Center.... PS thanks for your response!

Hello, sorry yes the TEAS test.......they have it abbrev. as ATI?

No but ATI makes the test I think.

Hey let us know if you got into the LVN program and how it goes for you ok? I am still on campus taking the IV class on Fridays.:nuke:

Hi I am to going to start LVN classes in March, at American career college. I took this rout because Im a mother of four and work full time and this was the only school that honestly fit in my life right now. I work with special children though the Montebello school district in ca. But I am aching to do something a little different, I cant advance where I am at work. I also hot the top of our pay scale last year. I read how nursing is in high demand and the pay is at least 1,000 to 1500 more then what I make now. I dont have time for pre recs either. I live in the here and now age, traditonal school was taking to long, and for as many people wanted me to go int teaching this I felt was not my calling. So kudos to every one, and to new careers:nurse::yeah:

Hi, thanks....yeah I believe I totally blew it..........the timed math was crazy...I just filled in C's whereever I ran out or skipped. Also in the science there was not but one question on anatomy, mostly chemistry which I have not taken and long, long readings for the science project questions....time was down to the sec.???/ So we shall see....if I don't make it I will be applying to National University, and some others in the surrounding area....one which is in Mission Vejo? Have you heard of Saddleback, and College of the Desert- which is far, but my in laws are out there so I can stay with them during the week. Good luck to you in IV class. :)
