Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi Everyone,

I just graduated from LVN program Dec 2007 and came across this awesome site but haven't had time to search all over. Anyways, I scheduled my test for Feb 26 but I've been reading over Suzanne's plan and tips, question is should I reschedule so it would fall into the 45 days or what other tips can anyone help me with??

I have the Saunders 3rd edition book as a guide right now but now I am second guessing myself about the test....I am new here and I hope I posted this in the right forum, thanks

:welcome: Hi there and congrats on grad! I just graduated in Nov. 07 and taking my NCLEX here in a week!!!!!! I dont know much about suzannes plan, but I gotta tell you if you have the review saunders that book is awesome! I have studied so many books ... mosbys, lippincotts, exam cram, nclex Pn made easy, I got a pocket PDQ/LPN, and I also have my own file I bought back in Oct. that I have been solely using right now. I think at first you will feel overwhelmed and not know where to begin! Thats how I was... but as time went on it will all come together ... just focus on questions 100-150 a day no matter what .. and review all rationales and anything you dont know write down and take notes. U also want to do some reviewer just to refresh your brain... and then whatever weak areas you have. Also focus on Maslow, nursing process and patient safety. I think NCLEX may end up being a lot of pt, teaching, safety and common sense... but I wont know yet until a week from now! good luck ... and I think however time you allow from now until NCLEX is totally up to you and how self disciplined you are w studying ... I gave myself almost 4 weeks... and I think that time was perfect but Ive ben studying every single day sometimes pulling 12 hours... good luck!!

I graduated dec 14 2007 also. I test on Feb 15. I use the saunders cd. I dont know anything about suzannes plan. The saunders cd has helped me alot with understanding more now than I did when I was in school. I just tell myself that when I go to test..that I will concentrate on one question at a time...focus...dont get nervous...because its not worth it...and I do have the chance to take it again if I fail...at least we have that option. but we all have come this far...and WE CAN MAKE IT !!!! WE WILL PASS!!

I agree, I have learned more reviewing for NCLEX than I did in school! hahaha! But Im so glad Ive come to this point, and I wish I had that option in my head about taking it again, although thats not even an option for me because I want to go in saying Im going to pass... lord knows how hard Ive worked and I need this! Im a single mom and have been in serious debt to accompolish my career. right now Im jobless, its long story and I never thought Id be in this situation, but in life I know that if there is something we want, we strive hard! So good luck and go in saying Im passing this! I know we will!

:lol2:

thank you all..I appreciate all the advice and suggestions. I am not a great test taker so this will be more of a challenge for me. You are right a lot of the NCLEX info you don't really see in nursing school (at least where I graduated from) but I will do my best pass or fail. Good luck to all you as well!

Good luck to you with the studying! I take my test this monday coming up and I am so nervous, but I'm trying to keep it cool and relaxed. I bought this new book called NCLEX-PN Review Made Incredibly Easy from Lippincott. It came with a cd with over 1,000 practice questions, and they give rationales behind each question, too. I find the book very helpful. I also tried out the online study course, which helped me a little. I also have Kaplan review, and Saunder's review cards. It seems like a lot but just make sure you review your labs, your medications, and just high priority events. (Think MASLOW!) I'm hoping to pass this test the first try, and I know A LOT of people who are incredibly nervous. So, just relax, buy yourself a review book, and try to get a hold of cd with practice questions. You made it through the nursing program, and there is no stopping you now! :) good luck!
