I've had a couple nursing jobs as an LVN to date. The first was a camp nursing position that I worked right out of school, and right after I had passed my boards. It was challenging enough, but I did well. The second was a home health gig that I hated! Home health and me don't mix. Plus, didn't help that they were bouncing my paychecks.
Now I have my third job. Charge nurse in a LTC. I'm currently going through orientation and training, and I find myself very anxious! I feel like I'm a student again, back in clinicals, first day before patient care. I used to always get so nervous. It'd take me a few weeks to settle in. And once I did, I was completely fine. Tomorrow I work my full "first" shift. I use quotes around first because I'm still orienting, but I'll be on the floor the entire time. The nurses I work with all seem great... so far. One of them told me last week that when I start working on the floor, it'll be like I'm re-learning everything all over again
I can't believe I'm this nervous! Anyone have any advice to help me destress a bit? Or any good pointers in LTC nursing?

DON'T STRESS !
If the staff & the patients see you stress, it makes everything worse !
Smile, rely on your preceptor, and the older staff members ( not age, experience) establish a positive relationship with the staff, and they will help you through !
God Bless !
