You might need to check your BON to see if your school forgot to seen something that is reqired for you to test...
I know that happens alot and in VA you must pay your fees before sitting for the test and send your transcript from your school. Also in relation to job search try to feel in applications for carepartners,PCT techs, or volunteer for a couple of hours in a nursing home that way you can gain some experience and you won't forget what you've learned.
NurseNetty, I am sorry to hear that and am now scared to have done this for nothing. because they did not warn me about this in school. I jst fixed my resume and it does not state LPN. I took all LPN stuf out in hopes of finding somethin else for now until I am able to take the boards. I wont give up all hope. even if it takes volunteering at least once a week.
emt2lpn2, thanks for volunteer idea, I will call my local LTC to ask how to go about that.
Thanks to all for ur replies.
If you are in California, it is extremely difficult to land an LVN job if you do not have a minimum of one year of LVN work experience. This is due to the slumping economy. Employers are finding that it is cheaper to hire an experienced nurse instead of spending the time, money, and effort to get a new grad fully trained.I'm rocking the same boat. My question is: do they require experience as an LVN, or can it be any kind of healthcare related experience? I've volunteered, but it's been two years ago. I'll just keep applying and keep hoping.

:crying2:I feel so crushed, for every job application I send, about 30, I get a ''you need a year experience call us back when you do''. or "call us when you have an actual test date for the boards or after you've taken them" I graduated 6/15/2010 and that same week paid and applied for NY license and registered to take NCLEX-PN. stil waiting for ATT permission to schedule n take exam. no one will hire me on the famous temporary license i heard so much about as a student. i cant work doing what I do have experience in social service because once they learn im a new lpn grad they'l thnk I would leave current job at the 1st opportunity to be an lpn. I have no job now and am a single mom. i thought there was a nursing shortage. I will not apply for social service benefits until i exhaust all my options. does anyone know how much longer I need to wait for ATT? any advice would be great.
