I am starting a new labor and delivery job soon that doesn't have central monitoring. have previously worked in a unit with central monitoring.
how does that work out? does the nurse ever leave the room-to get supplies, call the doctor, etc? i want to say no, if she's on continuous monitoring then someone has to be watching it.....
sorry if it seems like a silly question, its just way different than what im used to. im excited though!

I worked somewhere for 6 months that didn't have central monitoring. They could not leave the room with anyone on pitocin...but otherwise they just went in periodically and checked strips.

That is my experience as well.
You cannot leave the room when doing a pit induction (that can get very boring) . . otherwise you go in every 15 minutes to check the monitor.
I did it for 8 years. It isn't the best set up for L&D.
