How long did it take you to get your ATT in NJ?

I'm a recent Dec grad and I'm really eager to take the NCLEX-RN. I've done the Kaplan review course and I'm just studying daily until I get my ATT. I'm curious about how long I should expect to wait this time of year. I've heard the wait in Dec isn't as bad as it is for the May grads. Also, I've sent everything in including my finger printing. I sent my items back in Oct. Just trying to get a ball park figure to tell my future employer. Thanks!

Hello! I am going to be graduating November 26th and my letter from my school will be sent December 18th. I was just wondering, from what I gathered from your post, it took you about 10 days to get your ATT code and you scheduled your test about a week later? Is this correct? Also did you find that Kaplan helped a lot? I am wondering if I should take the class. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks so much! I am looking to get a job ASAP as my loans will be coming in soon :/ lol

That's correct I got my ATT 10 days after my school sent it in. I tested almost a week after getting my ATT. I did Kaplan the day after my last day of class. I felt like the strategies that Kaplan taught were very helpful as well as the question trainers. The similarities between Kaplan and the NCLEX are crazy! It felt like I was doing Kaplan QT's but with a lot more pressure weighing on me. I passed with a minimum amount of questions. I honestly felt like I passed with I was done. Kaplan scores let you know if you are ready.

Thank you so much for your opinion! I think I am going to try Kaplan as I have heard a lot of positive things about the program. I also now feel like I have a ballpark as to how long it should take me to receive everything. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

Hello,

I was just wondering if you happen to remember if it took a long time for items to be checked off on your checklist from the board of nursing that did not apply to you. For example, I applied almost a month ago and the item, "refresher course," is still unchecked. A refresher course does not apply to me. I am wondering if it is normal for it to take this long or if I should call. If you could let me know your thoughts based on your experience it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The BON will periodically update your application checklist, including marking things that don't apply to you as "Not applicable". Things get checked off pretty quickly once they are processed, but it seems like it takes a long time for certain things to be processed. Hope that helps...I was worried about the same thing.

As an aside, it took me much longer to get my ATT - around 2 months. Apparently the letters of completion from my school were received, scanned, but never "processed," and so my classmates and I had to call repeatedly or drive to Newark to finally get our ATTs. If you don't see things moving along on your application after a few weeks, give them a call.

My items were never checked off. I submitted all my requirements in Oct...way ahead of schedule and students who submitted things in Dec had items checked off that I didn't. There is no method to the madness. Just call and verify that they have everything and you'll be fine.
