I interview Monday for an informatics position at my facility and have a question regarding on of the acronyms they used on the job details. It says "IRN nurse will work closely with FIT/FAST lead", what does FIT/FAST stand for? I have never worked in IT before but am wicked quick with computers, there is not an application out there that can defeat me! Lol. I want to appear somewhat in the know when I go for my interview.I have worked as a Superuser on everything from Eclypsis to Omnicell so I have that experience. I am really excited about the opportunity but since I don't have a lot of experience have been trying to read up on the industry a little.

Most likely this is an acronym specific to that hospital/healthcare system.
Many hospitals come up with their own name for an implementation of a project. For example, one hospital that I supported a while back was implementing powerchart. However, the job description talked about helping the nurses with the STAR implementation. Turned out that's what the hospital called their project, but can't remember what STAR stood for. I also have seen stuff like HISTT (hospital information systems training team), CARE, COMPASS, etc.
I'm willing to bet that FIT/FAST is the internal name that hospital is calling their application team, or implementation project. Hopefully somebody here knows what it stands for.
I'm curious though---if you already interviewed for the job, why didn't you ask that during the interview? That would be one of my first questions---"it says here that I will be working with the FIT/FAST lead. What does that specifically mean?"

Bravo!!! for your initiative in "reading up on the industry" prior to your interview. Please also see the interview questions that are stickied at the bottom of the main page of this Forum.
I agree with ikars7401, FIT/FAST is probably an internal to your organization acronym.
What are the other responsibilities of this role? Take a look at them and see how you can make the connection between those and what you have already done as a super user and as a nurse. As a hiring manager I would be looking at your resume with an eye for past work experience and roles/responsibilities that relate to or can be related to this current informatics position. You should be able to clearly explain and translate your past experience in this way too.
Take a look at previous posts on this Forum, and the articles and links below as they are full of great advise on how to get started in this speciality and prepare for interviews.
Good Luck!

Oh, I just realized...I read it as "I interviewed on monday...." Not as I interview monday! :uhoh21:
Many times hospitals have press releases of their implementations so you can also try to google the hospital you're interviewing at, and the word FIT/FAST to see if it comes up with anything.
