Hi,

I am a tele nurse and just interviewed with Hospice this week and I got the position! I start in 2 weeks. I am so estatic, just had to share my joy. I am sure I will be coming here often to ask questions/advice. I love reading this thread.

Can any of you recommend any reading for a new Hospice nurse? Any recommendations/advice will be greatly appreciated.:heartbeat

Congrats on your new hospice position and WELCOME to the board. You will learn as well as receive wonderful support from hospice nurses from all over the country.

I wish you well. Let us know what you think after you have had a chance to get out there!

Hello and welcome to the most precious world of Hospice Nursing.

I grabbed all I could read about Hospice nursing.

Checked out Hospice websites.

Did the ELNEC training then went on and did the Hospice Certification as well.

Take care time in learning all you can, mind you that never ends as I learn daily with different situations that occur.

I wish you all the very best in choosing this very rewarding job. :yeah:

Congratulations on your new position! :balloons:

One of the required reading/watching was Tuesday's With Morrie

It was great. I also watched (and want to read) For One More Day and The 5 People You Meet in Heaven

Edited to add - these were required in my volunteer training. I forgot to mention that.

A couple of other great books to read:

Sacred Passages and Final Gifts

Kubler-Ross books, everyone of them, are must reads as well.
