Anyone else taking the weekend CNA class that starts on October 18 at RSAA?
I don't think we covered hospitals at all. PM who your instructor was since I don't think we can name names. I'm curious. Glad it went well.

They do have an evening program but I don't know if it's what you'd consider part-time.

Correct. On azbn.gov anyone can look you and your # up. It's all public info so any employer can just search under your name and know if you have your license. You don't need the paper.

When you go in to take your final someone will come in and talk to you about the boards. They have scheduled dates for your class or you can take it somewhere else but I recommend taking it at RSAA. I still don't have my license #. It can take 6 - 8 weeks to get and it's only been 3 weeks. I'm not getting it in the mail because I don't want to pay $47.00 (or whatever it was) for a piece of paper.

I did a few baths by myself the first day but mostly I did vitals, passed trays, fed a few people, collected trays, helped change a few briefs, changed a very large & vomiting woman's clothes, passed water, changed sheets, brushed teeth. Saturdays were busy but Sundays were pretty slow.

We had a large group so we were split up and went to 3 different places. I was at Mi Casa on Power & Baywood. Clinicals were ok. MUCH different than what we learned in class but definitely great experience.

LOL, I'm curious in a good way. The program was fine, I just wish we would have spent more time doing skills than going over what was in the book. You may have a different teacher though. Over all the class is pretty easy. You'll do great!

I went to the last one (registered for the October one though) Be sure to post back here telling us who your teachers are (you can PM me if you want since I don't think we're supposed to name names) but I'm curious who you'll have and what you'll think! Best of luck to you!!

"If you can handle the work in a nursing home you can handle the work any where" Good point!

Skills question
I don't know if this helps or not but the way we had to do it was (here in AZ)- Knock on the door, greet resident, state that we would wash our hands, explain the procedure, identify that we had the correct resident (you'd be surprised how many people get the wrong resident in real life), provide privacy if needed (cause here you have to provide privacy for b/p but not vitals - whatever) then do the procedure. Then state that we would wash hands again once we completed everything. Hope that helps some. Good luck to you.
