I am sure that everyone has heard that new graduate RNs are having a hard time finding jobs. Whether its due to lack of experience, budget cuts, not being a BSN, etc.
My question is: what, if anything, have people heard about the future? Are things expected to change in the next couple years? Will hiring pick up soon/later/ever? Should people who are just starting nursing school be worried?

Yes, I think you should be worried. Hospitals are not going to be hiring any significant number of new grad RNs until they have some income. When people or entities start covering hospitalizations there may be some money to hire someone to work in the hospital. Currently AZ hospitals are not getting proper reimbursement due to no Medicaid plan and a very strict AZHCCS plan.
People with insurance can't afford to stay in the hospital either due to high copays and crappy high deductibles. Nobody goes to the hospital voluntarily!
There might be growth with home care, hospice, and insurance RNs.

Well I graduated cna this past Feb. Since than I've had 4 interviews. They have all showed interest but I have realized that the hiring process is extremely slow in healthcare. I also realize more and more you have to "know" someone on the inside to get more opportunities.
