ok, sorry somewhat of a dulpicate post-but i wanted to add more to it and include it in the title, which i didn't know how to change so.. sorry!

does anyone here know if intro to chemistry fills requirements to enter into other sciences, if you haven't taken chemistry in high school?

i can call the school and ask but they aren't open right now and i couldn't even get ahold of them to make a payment earlier today.. ugh. but i was thinking to take one course at a time for now, but if i take two, psychology and intro to chemistry i think i may be okay..

for someone who was never very 'studious' and been out of school for 3 years, and working 40hrs per week (mostly nights), do you think taking psych (online) and intro to chem would be too difficult? i have never taken chemistry so i am not sure what it's really like! i would be taking it @ the conway academic center through nhctc-berlin .. anyone have any experiences with this academic center??

how about biology @ the berlin campus?

i have to contact my hs tomorrow and check on my biology grade because i cannot remember if i got a c or better (told ya i wasn't very studious!).. anyway, if i did get a c or better, i can just take intro to chemistry and fulfill my requirements for a&p, etc, right? but, if i didn't then i can just take biology through the college and fulfill the req., right?

does anyone out here know if into to chem fulfills the requirement? says it doesn't fulfill graduation requirements, but i don't need it for graduation.. i need it just for a pre-req since i didn't take it in college.. thanks!!

sorry for the long post and lots of questions!

Check with the school.

I was 20 years out of school and never had Chem, biology or algebra. I took Chem I and did fine. I have been told that there is not a whole lot of difference in the two classes.

Also, try to take ALL classes needed at college level instead of HS. Generally you are learning the same thing and sometimes even same book, and you will get credits that will count towards grad, or even transfer into a higher degree.

Hope it all works out for you.

About it counting towards graduation..... I only need it to be admitted into the A&P and such courses, not to graduate?

I spoke with the admissions guy today and he said that is sufficient as I have never had HS chem, but I have had Biology.

The pre-req's for A&P are High School Biology and Chem, or just Bio114- College biology with lab (no chemistry in that case). I could have just taken Bio114 but we advised since I had HS Bio, to take Intro. Chem. so I may be admitted to A&P.

hmmmmm? Did they misinform me?

You only need intro chem (i.e. high school level chem) to get into A&P. You do not need to take it at the college level, I think kukukajoo is just saying that there isn't a huge difference between the classes, so if you wanted to, you could take it at the college level which would give you additional credits and could give you an advantage later on should you decide to continue your education.

Zackly what I was trying to say! :)

If you take it at college level, you can always transfer it to a BSN or higher degree program as all the BSN programs I am looking at that isa required class. If you take a HS chem, then it will never transfer anywhere and you will still be paying for that class, up here about the same money.

Best wishes to you!
