Google "CV template for nurse" that is what I did. A CV is better for new grads because it focuses on education and clinical placements whereas a resume is focused on work experience.
I had also been sending resumes out through HFO since early this year and I didn't hear anything, but when I gave up on HFO and started looking up DON e-mails I was selected for 2 interviews within a couple weeks and was offered a casual position in the 2nd interview. Might be worth a try...
Sorry, I should have worded that better. Yes, I went on websites of all of the hospitals/LTC homes in my area and found the DON's email or some sites listed a HR email that was for people to send resumes to and sent my cover letter and resume right to them. Two of the DON's that I sent to directly gave me an opportunity to interview. I haven't heard anything from resumes I sent through HFO and I sent to every single RN position in Ontario.
Hi RescueNinja, did you try going to nursingcareerscanada.ca this is the official national job board of the CNA for nurses in canada. the site has been re-launched, with new look and feel, enhanced functionalities, new features! here is the link www.nursingcareerscanada.ca
hope this help:)
which career/employment centres you have been going to?
I went to the career center at my school, but I found they do not really understand nursing or healthcare career. Right now I am searching a new one for rewriting my resume. It's so stressful at this time!
I feel the same, that's why I was hoping to get some help from experienced nurses, how to make resume stand out more~~
For LTC, go to the place itself. Not a lot of LTC have websites so go around your neighbourhood and actually seek them out. I heard this gives you a better chance since they can put a face to your resume. Some have even gone as far as wearing their scrub to show that they're ready to work right away. Hope that helps.

Hi, I'm a new graduate RN from Toronto (still waiting for exam results tho), now I want to focus on finding a position in Long Term Care. I have beeing sending resumes out through HFO and some other sites since FEB, I haven't get any call yet. My resume and cover letter were edited by ppl in caree centers many times and they said they are great. However I don't think they are experienced in Nursing resume. Could anyone give me some tips about resume and cover letters? What should I do to get a chance for interview? Thank you so much!
