New graduate lpn

Published

I had just graduated as a Lpn from a community college and I don't know about home care I'd like to work in a facility so I have someone to ask questions to if needed. I don't know where to start I haven't taken my state exam yet but I'd like a job before then. Any advice on where I should look to start off at etc? I'm from buffalo, ny.

If you want to work in a facility, the best place to usually start is LTC or a SNF, something along those lines. Good luck!

Thanks I think those places might be what I'd need if I want experience since I want to continue for my RN. There are a lot of LTC and SNF facilities hiring Lpns but most need 1yr previous experience ill keep looking, thanks!

If they ask for 1 yr experience, what types of facilities do not require experience? Can you apply at urgent care clinics or physician offices? In my area nursing homes tend to be very open to new grads so I'm a little surprised as them asking for 1 yr of experience but I understand every market is different. Good luck!

Some nursing homes that are run by this large organization here require 1yr experience and there are a lot of nursing homes sponsored by them but there are many other smaller run organizations that encourage new grads I've found!
