New Grads And Homecare Visits

Published

Hi everyone!

Iam hoping some nurses will be able to give me the names of some home care agencies in Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens that hire new Grads for home visits. I already know about the VNS internship program, but are there any others? I passed my RN boards last month and would love to work in home care. I was an LPN 14 years prior, but don't have the one year recent med-surg experience as an RN that most agencies seem to require. DESPERATELY SEEKING, PLEASE HELP! of

I live in California and I also want to work home health, but everyone company I have called has told me home health RN's must have a year's experience before they can do home healthy. I don't know what state you are in (forgot to look), but this is the law as far as I am being told.

Good luck.

Sorry about my post. Trying to type too fast and did not proofread.:loveya:

HI Rosstat2,

Thanks for your response. I am living in New York City. I actually did some homecare visits in the past as an LPN, just not a years worth. Maybe about 3 months. I also did a lot of HHA supervisions and trainee visits. I was not allowed to do oasis visits of course. Aside from that, I found it to be challenging but not the type of challenge that I can't handle. I enjoyed it and would just love to do it again. I know it's the law (the 1yr experience) but there must be some loop hole because I know that there are agencies in NY who will hire me, I just have to find them. The agency that I did it with before is willing to hire me and provide orientation, however I just missed their most recent orientation and there won't be another for 3 months :crying2:. So again, please if anyone knows of any such agencies in the NYC area please let me know, thanks. Rosstat2, California is pretty similar to NY with these things so I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find agencies willing to hire and train you for home care visits. Good Luck!
