Hi, I can understand you wanting to move to SD. The weather is incredible. The centrally located hospitals that I know of are Scripps, Sharps, UCSD Medical Center, Rady's Childrens, and some others that are more east or north county are Alvarado, Promise, Paradise Valley, Palomar Pomarado and Kaiser Permanente. I went to a jobfair today and I heard from 2 people (recruiters) that the area is saturated with new grads. There are many jobs out there but for experienced nurses. I passed the NCLEX 2 weeks ago, have been getting out resumes for about 3 weeks and no interview yet. I am getting a little nervous. And I have a solid work history with strong, applicable job skills and a little LPN and CNA experience to go with my gleaming brand-new RN license.

This is just my experience. I was reading on another thread about all these new grads who get jobs pinned down months before they graduate (not sure of the area) and I was feeling like I totally missed the boat. I relocated right after graduation in May and had to wait until September to take the NCLEX with no IP.

It would be great to hear from others. I posted some months ago under Cali re the new grad job climate but never got any response. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

P.S.

PB is great if your 20 something and into partying. I am more the Hillcrest, University Hgts type and look forward to moving into that area someday.

oh and the starting pay for new grads in hospitals is about 28+ an hour (base pay).

Thanks for replying I will keep you posted on what happens with my job search. I'm starting to send out resumes now and I graduate in December so hopefully I can find something.
