Hi,
I am a new grad beginning at Terrell State Hospital in Terrell, TX the first of September. I wanted to know if anyone has any experience working here. Dress code? How is the orientation? What should I do to prepare?

How's your job going? I did clinical rotation there a few weeks ago and wow what a cool experience! Wondering how you like it because I really loved my time on the adolescent unit!
Crossfitnurse,
Sorry for the late reply. Terrell is a great place to work; especially for a new grad. They do an extensive amount of training and orientation. I really feel like they give a great deal of support me professionally. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and supportive.

I actually applied to a couple of jobs there myself last week. How long did it take for you to hear back from them when you applied? I am a new grad as well took NCLEX and been looking for 2 weeks now.

I work for Austin State and we need nurses really bad right now. We hire new grads, a month long training program, along with a month long orientation. I absolutely love where I work and would not change it for the world. I heard back within 2 weeks, had my interview and was hired the same day. I am making $27/hr. Plus all of the benefits on top of that. It's pretty awesome. Of course it's because of the risks of psych but you will know if psych is for you or not within a week or two of being on the unit.
