New Grad Struggling in L.A.

U.S.A. California

Published

I graduated from nursing school in August, passed the NCLEX, and got my CA RN. I've applied to 30+ hospitals within a 50 mile radius of my apartment, and have had no luck. I'm new to the area, so I'm not really sure where else to look. How can I find jobs at doctor's offices or surgical centers?

Also, I miss my nursing school buddies. If anyone wants to hang out and share sob stories, I've got nothing but time. *Sigh*

First of all, Congraduations for all of your accomplishments!!! I am a senior (graduate in July) and I live in San Diego county. I moved here after Katrina (yes, a Southern Girl). It is so hard to "break" into the hospital as a new grad. They hire internal employees first and then grab from the "outside." Internally, there is still no guarentee that you will be hired, i.e: picking favorites, who cooked the best bean pie last year, that type of stuff. Have you tried skilled nursing facilities or senior care centers? Not as glamorous, but it pays something.:nurse:

Hello, hang in there. I live in SCV. Had to move out here because of job. I miss my

nursing buddies too.
