New Grad SNF Job

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello, I'm a new grad LVN with zero professional experience. I just got hired for a 3 - 11 shift at a SNF and, as expected, I'm quite nervous. I wanted to get some advice from the good people of AllNurses. I would appreciate any help! Thanks!

Hey I just started too. I've had one week of "class" orientation" and then starting a week of shadowing on Sunday. It's a 59 bed facility which is kind of small and seems like i'll learn a lot. I hear the same thing from everyone, Be organized and time management! Good luck.

Hey, how's work? Can you eloborate on your "ONE WEEK class orientation" please? Does it mean paper works, physical exams, tour, then most importantly watching videos and answering questions after? You're lucky to have a full week orientation, class setting. Most facilities will offer 1-2 weeks orientation, and end up only with 1 week orientation including the paper works, videos etc... Were you also given a full week floor orientation? Thanks!

Hey, how's work? How's the first month so far? Care to share your experience? Any advice? Thanks

So i had a week to watch videos, paperwork, a tour and a review on the computer system. Then it was a week of shadowing the nurse. I got to follow a couple nurses and it was good to see different methods and ways. They would allow me to do a medication, or treatment as we went. I was finally followed by the DSD for a 25 medication pass to seee if I was ready to be on my own and i was fine. Some days are more stressful than other but it's been almost three weeks and it's gone well. It helps that my fellow nurses and CNA's are helpful and friendly
