New grad since May and passed NCLEX but still no job!!!!

Published

Hello, I have graduated since May this past year and passed my NCLEX since July and I still have no job. I had only one interview but did not got the job offer. I currently moved to Galveston and been applying to hospitals here and around the Houston area. Have not heard back from any of them and I desperately need a job soon before my loans repayment starts kicking in the next two months. Is there something I need to do in order to reach out a nurse recruiter or manger at the hospitals in order to get a job? I was thinking about volunteering at a clinic around here for the mean time until I get a job. Any advice on where else I can apply to or how to get an interview will be much appreciated. I really want to work but so upset that I am having so much trouble in getting a job

My cousin got a job by applying to all of the facilities where she did her clinical rotations. I submitted over 100 applications online, and followed up in person to about 30 facilities whereas I could actually get to the decision makers. I also had a friend on the inside of a particular hospital, but it was taking too long for her manager to pull my application so I took a job elsewhere. Keep plugging away, stay prayed up, and don't give up. You will find work soon. I hope this helps.

Perhaps switch your focus temporarily to accept employment outside the hospital setting. Since everybody (and their mama) wants to work in the exalted hospital, you've got to think outside the box and apply where the rest of the herd wouldn't dare want to work.

Apply in person at nursing homes, psychiatric facilities, home health agencies, hospices, and other healthcare workplaces outside the hospital. Apply during business hours (Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm; avoid the lunch hour if possible) and dress professionally. You never know. You might walk your way into an instant job offer if you do this.
