New Grad RN Salary

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello Everyone, I am a new grad RN and will have an interview with DON of a Convalescent Hospital tomorrow. I'd like to know the average salary for a new grad in these facilities in Southern California. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It is in Los Angeles Area, and the director offers $22/hour. Do you think that it is a bit low? for a night shift 11pm-7:30am

Personally I think its low. I get paid almost the same and I am only an MA.

If you have no other options, I would accept the job offer. The employment market in southern CA is glutted with too many nurses, so the facility can get away with offering low pay rates. After all, if you don't take the job, there's probably 100+ unemployed nurses who will accept the offer with no questions asked.

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

Keep in mind that the first job is about gaining experience so you are no longer a new grad, because until you do that, you're pretty much powerless in the job market.

Unless this salary would put you in very dire financial straits, I would take it.
