New grad RN positions in NOLA?

I'll be graduating from Boston College School of Nursing in exactly one week (!) but have had a lot of trouble finding positions for new graduate RNs in New Orleans. Ideally, I would love to go straight into pediatrics, but just want to work as a nurse and am willing to try my hand at anything. I was just told this morning by Tulane Medical Center that they've filled all their New Grad RN positions...

I would really appreciate feedback regarding availability of new grad RN positions at Children's Hospital of NO, Oschner, University Hospital, East Jefferson General Hospital, or any other hospital, medical center, clinic in the New Orleans area. (As well as any tips for new grad RNs trying to enter this tight job market)

Thanks so much in advance!

Many of us in the area are having problems finding jobs as new grads. I can tell you Children's & East Jefferson do not have positions. Good luck!

Well it's been hard for a lot of us to get jobs as new grads and I have had to expand my search to other areas. University Hospital is on a state freeze for hiring at this time until further notice. Children's only hired their nurse techs and most of them didn't get jobs. Basically, all you might have left is Oschner and they have already begun the interviewing process like over a month ago. Good luck anyway!

BKC, I sent you a pm. Did you ever get it?

Hey BBQVegan,

Sorry I never got back to you! (apparently, I can't send PMs?) With graduation and moving back home and visiting NOLA to get an apartment, I haven't had much time to reply to much of anything, BUT I did get your message and that sounds great! Ochsner called me during graduation on May 19 to set up a telephone interview, but for some reason no one at Ochsner is returning my calls to actually schedule it. Thus, I'm applying to Touro this morning and will list you as a referral if that's still alright. Let me know if that's still OK with you. Thanks for your help! -BKC
