New Grad RN moved to Kansas City, Advice on Job Market

Published

Hello Nurses!

I recently graduated with my ADN in May. The day after my Pinning Ceremony, I sustained an injury and have spent the last 6 months in rehab getting back to 100% (or even better, actually). Part of the repercussions of my injury moved me from the state in which I graduated, to Missouri, to be closer to family. I have now been released by my physical therapist to work. I am aware that there are some hospitals that require a BSN. I have been, and am currently, taking classes towards my BSN-so I am on that. I have been searching for new grad positions, and came across some applications for winter cohorts. Unfortunately, some of the deadlines for those applications have already passed. Is it likely that I will have to wait until next spring to try to get into a cohort? Or do hospitals hire outside of designated cohorts for new grads? If you are, at all, familiar with the Kansas City Nursing job market, and have ANY advice to share as to what to expect pay wise, what hospitals pay more, application processes, best hospitals for ADN's, or any tips for making myself stand out in the applicant pool-It would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, nurses!
