I am currently in the Winter Garden, FL area and I am having a hard time finding a job. Anyone know of any openings in my area?
I just earned my BSN and I have a little bit of RN experience but not enough to be hired without getting into a GN program. I've applied to all my local hospitals, home health, Craigslist jobs, clinics, etc. I have even called, emailed and even gone in person.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have 2 friends that are from florida(one of them I referred them to the hospital). We work in North Dakota at st. Alexius... give it some thought... You can be hired almost all year round and can start on your specialty(Except icu/ER, hard to get in there)

Do you only want to work in winter garden? I recently saw postings for a hospital in Clermont Fl at their south lake hospital ( which I fell in love with) and depending on your speciality their orientation can last anywhere from 4 weeks to 9 months. I know it's a distance but winter garden/ orlando is saturated you may have to go out of town
I actually live closer to Clermont & went and talk to the hr lady at the south lake hospital. She told me their GN program was already in their 2nd week of orientation and she couldn't get me in. Since I have under a year of hospital experience I won't get hired for any of their other jobs unless I do GN program. The next one won't be until July possible one in February. Do you know if it's for certain if they only hire gn's in the summer?

chances of getting into GN programs are slim even with the best qualifications, while I hope you get into a program try applying for other non program positions...if you worked as a tech or aide in any sense that can count as experience. I worked as a HHA during school so if a position calls for at least a year experience I apply because I feel my experience as a HHA counts. the NM/HR may disagree but it's worth a shot to apply. ive gotten a few interviews as a new grad in non program RN positions so give it a try, you never know what may happen!
I'm sorry I don't I haven't done their GN program because I'm not a nurse YET I get tons of emails for job postings just to make sure I know what I can apply for when I graduate. South lake and Waterman hospital are the only ones with programs since you have little to no experience. Waterman hospital is in Tavares, I assumed south lake was hiring however since I just got 3 emails within the last 4 days asking for new grads
Thanks for the info. I have applied to other non GN programs with no luck. I am currently applying for home health maybe that will be a start. I was a CNA about 14 years ago not sure they would count that since it's been a long time ago. It's worth a shot. If you don't mind me asking what kind of positions have you gotten interviews for?
Any chance you can send me those new grad emails my way? When I look online I don't see any GN positions. I even set up to get notifications for new jobs and I have yet to receive new grad job emails.
I had interviews for ICU, med/surg, and a general medicine/ACE unit
