so. i have applied to every hospital, and nursing home in nyc multiple times....i have been out of school for over a year now. i need a job because evry day i go without one decrees my chances of ever getting one as an rn (i need to get some sort of experience as opposed to no experience at all). i really would love a hospital job but that hasnt come my way yet ( hospitals keep choosing the experienced rn over the new grad for bottom line reasons). i havent even been able to land a ltc job.
soooooooo ....i went to americare css today and what do you know...looks like i have a chance of getting hired...... looks like they are considering me for a case management position (they may have one available home care rn position but i got the feeling they prefered me for case management which i got the impression does not really require feild work).
sooo i guess my questions are...is it a good idea for a new grad to take on a case manager position? does anyone know how long the orientation is for a case manager at americare? does anyone work as a case manager for americare that would like to give me a first hand account of what the job is like? what are the hours like? what is the salary like? what are the working atmosphere like? can i expect to get out on time or dont even bother to dream about that?
any and all feedback is welcome.
thankx
