New Grad Residency Experiences in San Antonio

Hey allnurses,

I noticed Methodist offers one, but I haven't heard anything about the program, how the new grads liked it, etc.

I was curious if I could get some feedback from others who have participated in any new grad residency programs in San Antonio.

I went through the residency program for Methodist in February. It runs from about 10-18ish weeks long depending on specialty. You go to class 8 hours a week where they tell you about how great methodist is and the thousands of policies and many other useless things. They also reteach many of the skills/patho that you may have forgotten while in nursing school and more advance stuff if you're going into critical care. I felt these lectures were the best and most useful.

You work about 3 days a week to make up the other 32 hours to make a full 40 hour week. You'll have, in theory, one preceptor who will teach as much as you're willing to learn and ask about. This is your opportunity to ask every dumb question you have. Ask them anyway. Ask a lot of questions always about every single little thing. They expect you to take a full patient load when you're done, so do what you need to to get prepared.

Can you tell me anything about Methodist, or Methodist Metropolitan hospital's ED? Do you like the place, how do they treat the nurses? What is the increase from Nurse 2 to Nurse 3 in pay? I thank you for your time and any information you provide.
