New grad pay and jobs in Richmond

Published

Hello,

I graduated with a BSN in December and I am moving from TN to Richmond, VA, in a month. I am actively looking for a job, but I am having some trouble. Any advice on where the best places to apply are? Also, what is the average pay for a new grad in Richmond? Furthermore, I am coming in with a license from a compact state, and I was wondering if anyone knows the process and fees involved with switching the license?

Thanks soooooo much!!!!!

Hi, I am RN grad 2008 without experience, since I chose to stay home and take care of my kids...I currently live in Dallas, TX but will be relocating to Richmond very soon( I actually graduated from Richmond Community College). Any luck with finding a job there? Please let me know how things are moving,it will be very helpful! Thanks!:nurse:

I too am looking into the starting salary for a new grad here in VA. From what I have been able to gather, its around $20/hr. Im just hoping Im wrong about the salary! I mean, I know that that does not include shift or weekend diffs, but I hardly think it really adds up when you factor in the difficulty level of the job, all we've gone through in school, and countless other factors. Hopefully thats a low ball figure and not the true standard.

Hi, I think $20 /hour is about right though on the low end of the pay range. My classmates started at $19.50 two years ago and I thought $20-$22 would be at best what I would get now. I know what you mean about the difficulty and all we had to go through..However once we get experience we might be able to negotiate a better salary.Good Luck!

yep its true. $22 with no bonuses of any kind and mandatory overtime ( 3 years experience )

My goodness! Nursing is so much different than it was when I first started as an LPN. This is DEPRESSING! Do you mind if I ask whether this is hospital? (if so what type of floor?) and this is here in VA? Richmond area? I'm thinking of leaving my job that I have now to be an RN in the hospital, but if this is all there is to it I may as well stay where I am...

This is in Hampton Roads area, and I'm on telemetry / neuroscience floor.
