I just heard a rumor that new grad pay starting in Jan. will be more than some of the nurses already working at my hospital are paid. Has anyone encountered this before? I don't understand why management would do this, we don't have a nursing shortage in this area but stuff like this may cause one. :angryfire

I work with a nurse who has been with my boss for 8 years (they were "bought out" together twice, and changed facilities together). I've been with our boss for 1.5 years at 2 facilities.
Well, this nurse recently told me what she makes and I make $4./hr more than her.
You can bet that I did not clue her in.
However, I did not accept what my boss initially offered; I negotiated. I work 3/4 time, and don't get bennies. A few months ago, I renegotiated for $2. more per hr because of this.
Others where I work do not get more pay in leau of bennies because they havn't asked.
In the right-to-work states, you've really got to shop around and negotiate.
