So I will be a new graduate this December and just recently got an offer on Medical or Rehab/Specialty ... I want to get the best experience possible as a new graduate to help get my foot in the door for other opportunities. What will be the best decision? I am also interested in possibly travel nursing once I get experience

I am a physical rehabilitation nurse who is certified in my specialty, so I might have somewhat of a bias toward rehab.
However, I think the medical unit will provide you with a wider assortment of procedural skills and experiences to advance your career.

I used to do inpt physical rehab and loved it, but that was after 2 1/2 yrs on a cardiology stepdown unit, so I would say take the medical job- it will give you a lot more experience and give you good skill set which you will keep with you no matter where nursing takes you.

I suppose that depends on what your career goals are. If you've had some experience in rehab/specialty and you think that's the career path you want to go down, take that job. If you aren't sure where you want to land permanently, then take the medical job. Really, med-surg isn't the most glamorous position, but it's the bread-and-butter of acute care, and if you don't want to stay there after a year or two, the experience will have provided you a solid foundation on which to build other specialties (like ICU, step-down, etc.).
