NEW GRAD NURSE RESIDENCIES 2021 MIAMI, FL

Published

Has anyone applied to Nicklaus Children's Hospital, UM Hospital, Baptist Hospital, HCA Hospitals, etc. & have already received a job offer??

Or for the ones that have already been selected (last yr)..what was the process like and what should I expect? Do you recommend these residencies? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

8 south at UMH?

I'm doing float pool at baptist main

How did you know! LOL Did you work in that unit before??

That's awesome! ? Good luck to you!

I did my clinicals there LOL love that unit ? great work environment, nurses, staff, management.. ??

Oh okay. LOL That's awesome! I'm so glad to hear that. I was skeptical to work there because I've never done my clinicals there or know anyone that works there but I took the risk anyway.

Thank you!

Hi I’m so glad I found this thread!!

I also got into the UM nurse residency program for the PCU department.

Will you be starting March 1st as well? Also did they ask you to apply to a different job posting? I’m curious becuase when they called me to give me an offer they asked me to apply to the pcu job posting.

Congrats!! I'll be starting March 1st too! ?

Yes, the reason for this is when they contact you again your offer letter will be attached to that specific posting on workday & that's where you sign the letter. Have you received any of that info yet?

Thank you! Congrats to you as well ?

yes I received it all and went through the whole hiring process now just waiting to start ?

I was just curious as to why they made us do that but thank you for clarifying.

Are you doing day shift or night? I’ve also never done my clinicals at UMH, so I was also taking a risk but a lot of people have told me it’s a great hospital to work for, and a good learning experience so that is a great thing ??

Oh okay same here ? I'll be doing night shift. What about you?

Have you received any info regarding orientation? Apparently were suppose to receive an email from HR soon because March 1st is HR orientation & March 3rd is the actual nursing orientation. Not sure what the schedule is going to be like but the recruiter told me it was going to be virtual? But it doesn't seem like it. I'm guessing we'll take our picture for our ID's on Monday. Did they tell you this too?

Many people discouraged me and told me to not even bother to apply because they give priority to their students..but I applied anyway. That's great to hear! So far I've heard only good things ?

I’ll be doing night shift too, how exciting! ?

*also regarding the discouraging comments sometimes it’s best not to listen to people and just experience it ourselves, everyone’s experience is different and it’s about how you look at things and go about it so I’m going in ready to learn and positive.

& yeah I was a little worried that they didn’t give me too much information about the program so I had to call my recruiter multiple times, thankfully she doesn’t mind LOL.

they did tell me the same thing. She told me we would get out IDs the first day, that it would also be virtual but I didn’t quite understand if it was at home or at the hospital. I’m going to give her a call again today if not tomorrow to find out a little more cause I am a tad confused about that LOL

She did also mention that we would go in the 1st, 3rd and 4th of March. I think we should wait a couple days, and if we don’t get the email then just to call your recruiter to find out more.

she also mentioned to wear your scrubs, I bought some hunter green ones from Amazon but I don’t know if we have to wear the ones provided by the hospital or not so just in case I have a spare.

I realize that now from experience and I'm glad I ignored it.

I emailed one of the educators for the program and that's where I received the information about orientation. I haven't heard anything else from HR or the recruiter. I'm very persistent to get more information LOL. It's hard just waiting.

Not sure how long it'll take to receive an email because they opened the job listing again a couple of days ago to get more applicants. I'm probably going to do the same and call today because now I'm a little confused. I was told to wear a business casual outfit for the picture/orientation. Did she mention to wear scrubs for the nursing orientation or the HR orientation...or just in general? I bought hunter green scrubs too on amazon LOL just in case.

I will let you know if I'm able to speak to the recruiter or HR. If you hear anything could you please let me know! ?

I just received two emails from HR about some onboarding tasks that I need to complete as well as creating a caneID, have you done that already?

But now I have to call in regards to what I should wear the first day ? this confusion makes me anxious and stressed LOL. But so far that’s what I have updated.

After I complete these tasks I’m going to call my recruiter to see what I should wear and any other info. Like wise, if you find anything out please let me know too, let’s keep in touch ?

if anything I’ll wear business casual and bring scrubs just in case, because what your saying sounds a lot more accurate, since the first day will be HR orientation and our picture ID.

No, I haven't received anything yet. ? I was just about to email the recruiter. I guess ill wait until the end of the day for the onboarding email.

Yes, definitely! That's a good idea ill do that too.
