I passed my nclex in December 2014 first try thank goodness and I got my first lvn job in January 2015 at a school district as a sub Lvn but I'm not getting hours there im basically as needed and have been applying everywhere but no luck, I was even thinking about getting my cna to get my foot in the door somewhere the Lvn job market is pretty tough in Southern California also I don't have any medical background but 4 years in retail and I was a licensed cosmetologist but I'm not sure if I should take it off my resume cause I wanna be looked at as a nurse now!anyway if anyone has any advice im really discouraged I'm trying so hard I had one other interview but didn't get it also im very young 23 so no one wants a young new grad I just need someone to give me chance!also I had a question a lot of employers want experience does having me being a Lvn substitute count as 6 months experience even if I'm on call ?i mean the employer doesn't know I'm not working there everyday any advice is helpful please

Breathe. Def stay at the job you're currently in, for exp.. pray.. & the before you know it, the perfect job will come to you
Thanks I sure hope so I'm trying so hard I just hope jobs will count my experience as a substitute Lvn at the school

Your background would seem to be a very good fit for working in a physician office/clinic for dermatology, plastic surgery, etc. Many of those folks are also venturing into Medi-Spa territory... where medical & esthetic services converge. Have you explored these areas?

Look at Prime Healthcare. One of the only acute care hospital groups that hire LVNs. Also, if you are interested in psych, might be a good place to start. Good luck!! When I was a new grad LVN, I filled out about 200 applications online- Lindora clinics, medical spas, schools, clinics, you name it!! Luckily I got into acute care.
That's a good idea I have looked somewhat but they want experience for the plastic surgery physicians office but I will keep looking towards that path thanks
I will check it out ,thanks im open to anything right now lol your lucky you got into acute care that's hard to come by
