new grad LVN from san diego

Published

Hi!

I'm from San Diego. And hopefully my fellow San Diegans can help me.

I graduated from the LVN program a few years ago but only recently did I pass the NCLEX exam. Am I still considered a "new grad?" Do you think I'll have a hard time finding a job? Its been years since I last worked at a hospital. But I'm excited and willing to learn! Are there refresher courses I can take?

Specializes in Neuro Surgery,telemetry.

my sister in law is an LVN and mind you she gets the job she wants and the payscale she asks... you dont need to worry about job, there are hundreds even thousands available for you. most of the agencies and hospitals according to her pays according to experience.they do have orientation programs too. doesnt matter when you graduated. she has 10 months experience and she insisted on higher pay in kaiser permanente (she started ith $18), they gave her a test and she almost perfect it so she is now receiving $22-24 plus incentives. . that was last month...

Thats good to hear. Like i said previously, I havent had any kind of clinical experience in years. I'm just worried that noone will hire me. My aunts keep telling not worry because, like you said, they have orientation but i still worry that i wont get hired. But thank you. Your message makes me feel better. I think I just need to work on my confidence! Haha. And I've also started to read my nursing books again as a refresher.

Thanks again.:monkeydance:
