New Grad Jobs In SC, NC, and GA

Published

Hello there,

I will be a new graduate with a BSN in December 2011. I currently reside in San Diego were they are over 2,000 applicants (they pick around 20) to every new graduate program! I am looking to relocate to North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia. Do any of you know of places where they have good new graduate programs? So far these are the ones I have on my list: MUSC, New Hanover Medical Center, St. Josephs in Savannah, Backus Children's Hospital in Savannah, and Betty Cameron's Women and Children's hospital in Wilmington. I for sure want to do Pediatric Critical Care. I could settle for Pediatric Med/ Surg for a year as well too. Does anyone know of other places that either have a pediatric floor or is a children's hospital along the coast of Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Well, I will be taking my NCLEX in CA, therefore, my license will work in all states. We have the highest passing NCLEX score in the country so that is why we get to have reciprocity in all states! So I am up for anything in any state that is warm and on the coast (just not the west coast)!

Your CA license will not "work" in any other state beside CA. You will have to apply for licensure by endorsement in whatever state you move to. Also, the NCLEX is nationally standardized (has been for many years now), so anyone's passing NCLEX score is automatically accepted by any other state. You either pass the exam or you don't -- states no longer have different "passing" scores (again, that's been the case for many years now. Don't know who told you CA has a different, special standard, but that person doesn't know much about how nursing works these days). People licensed in any US state are eligible/qualified for licensure by endorsement in any other US state, as long as they meet any other specific requirements the "new" state has.

Best wishes for your job search!

To RN vampire, well I will be working as an RN while I finish up my MSN/ FNP online. Do FNPs get paid way less in Georgia as well? Is this the case for NC and SC? I do not think I will be in a culture shock as I have lived in 18 places including a super small town in Minnesota!

If you are interested in pediatric hospitals..you should try Augusta GA. It is a great place and they have the Medical College of Georgia as well as a Children's Hospital there that is wonderful and huge. Hope that helps!
