Anyone from the Triad area in NC?

I have applied to the New Grad Interships at North Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, Moses Cones-Greensboro, & High Point Health Systems-High Point. Has anyone done these? How did you like it? What did they pay you? Which one is the "one to get"?

ANY info on any of these programs would be greatly appreciated since I live out of state!

Thanks!

I applied to the one at Moses Cone, had a phone interview and was declined that same afternoon. Just got a email from Wakemed saying everythings been filled. I recently accepted a job at PCMH in Greenville, they at least still accept applications for new grads. Give them a try.

I'm sorry to hear about Moses, but I'm glad you found something. Just out of curiosity. Why did they do a phone interview and not do it in person? I Know how competative it can be but what are they looking for? I have a feeling it's probably filled up with those nursing students who did their clinicals there or if they did an internship while in school. I just want to get something where I'll have a preceptor and won't be thrown in with the lions fresh out of school. Good luck to you! :nurse:

I did a phone interview because I am an out of state applicant. I think unless you live close, all screening interviews will be done on the phone. Yeah, I didn't make it past the HR screening interview.

Internships are hard to find. The place I've been hired to, I'll get 12-14 weeks of orientation with a preceptor. It depends on the unit you get hired too.

I have no idea what they are looking for, it definately wasn't someone with LPN experience. I couldn't get anyone to believe I was in it for the long haul, except the place that finally hired me.

I am also looking to relocate to NC graduate July 2009, looked at PCMH can you let me know how your internship is going.

Thanks

Well, Moses Cone told me they were going to keep my forms "on file". Foresyth Medical told me they had over 300 applicants for New Grads and already hired 1/3rd of them, so they're not taking in anymore applicants. High Point has not called or e-mailed me. The only that did call me was NCBH where she asked what position I was looking for and said to get in touch with her toward the end of the month to see which posiiton I would be interested in at that time, and then will talk about an interview. It's my only hope, wish me luck! :banghead:

I haven't started yet, and its not really an internship per se. Just a new grad position with about 12-14 weeks orientation. I applied to internships and couldn't even get past HR for most of them....in several different states.

Good Luck!! let me know if you do not mind how the new grad position is going after you start.

Do you remember what kind of questions they asked you from HR? Is that when they want to know if you are in there for the long haul? Or they ask you want your strengths and weaknesses are?

I was never asked if I was wanting to work there for the long haul, its just my job history screams instability. I remember them asking what I felt my strengths and weaknesses were. I asked most of the questions though and I had come with several specific ones I wanted/needed answered. Always go into an interview with questions, several. Though some questions you may have will be answered by the NM during his/her description of the unit. Research the facility, ask about facility/unit goals. Are encouraged to participate in making changes? Peer interviews allow you to ask what the unit is really like from people who actually are staff.

Hope this helps.
