New grad for home health?

Published

I am a newly licensed LPN with no healthcare experience outside of clinicals/training. I've been having no luck finding a job (everyone wants at least one year experience) until today when a home health agency offered me a position upon learning I was IV certified. I was caught completely off guard with the offer and haven't had a chance to sit down and ask all my questions yet. Pretty much all I know so far is that they pay $15-20 per visit. So my main question is does this sound like a bad idea right off the bat?

I have also made a list of questions for the agency. Is there anything else I should ask? I am a little overwhelmed and barely know where to begin :uhoh3:

Is there an orientation? How many visits typically? What areas do you serve (from where to where, how far)? Compensation for mileage? Any benefits? Do I need liability insurance? Uniforms? Supplies?

That rate for visits is low. The lowest visit rate for LPNs usually is $25 a visit. Depending upon the area, $20 an hour for extended care might be the norm, but in other areas, the hourly rate has been lowered to an average of $16-$17 an hour.
