New Grad having hard time getting job. Greensboro

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

I am a december grad who passed my NCLEX and cant find a job. I live in greensboro and have applied to all local hospitals. Baptist, moses cone etc. They keep telling me that they need to figure out what positions they have available and will call me. Whats my next step?? Anyone have advice. I hate to be impatient but i worked so hard to finally get my license and now have to wait.

I can't believe that with you being fluent in Spanish that someone hasn't grabbed you up. Have you tried at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro? They have several positions listed on their website, not a lot but there are some there. Is UNC in Chapel Hill too far away for you?

Thanks for the info. I just Yahoo mapped UNC in Chapel Hill and that would be too far for me but I'll definitely look into the Asheboro one. I know that it is really hard to get a New grad position in NC but I really want to live next to my brother. I hope something turns up and soon.

FYI...I looked into Randolph at Asheboro and they are already full on their New Grad positions  and they said to check back in June to see if there are any openings then (in other words if any of the RN new grads that they hired failed the NCLEX). So I will check back then. No worries though, if it is not meant to be...then so be it. I leave it in God's hands at this point because if not, I will go bonkers with worry!

I looked at some job listing websites - TriadCareers.com & Indeed.com. They has some job openings listed, some for new grads as well in the High Point area. It's hard for experienced nurses to find something as well. Alot of places have hiring freezes right now. If you are going to be close to the Sanford area, Carolina Dialysis is looking for a full-time nurse.

Emily- The same exact thing happened to me and this is going on for 2 months now! I hate this waiting game but feel like i have no options. I am already licensed and transferred it up here. I Havent heard back from her yet and i am still working on the other hospitals in the area but it is generally the same thing. What else are you trying? I don't know how to get my foot in the door.

I know others have suggested this before, but why not try a nursing home or skilled nursing facility? Usually these places have plenty of openings. LTC can be a great place to learn skills and get established in your nursing career. Brian Short wrote of his experiences during a similar period in the 1990's and how much he gained from employment in a nursing home: https://allnurses.com/nursing-articles/new-grads-few-386051.html

Also, have you researched any job openings in Southwest Virginia such as Danville or Martinsville?
