Well after no success in finding work in Florida, I am considering a move to North Carolina. I will need to bring my ailing parents with me and am really looking for new grad friendly areas of NC. Maybe Raleigh, Greensboro? I have ACLS/BLS/PALS. Will finish BSN in August and EMT-B by the end of the year. Would like to be in. Level 1 trauma center cardiac/telemetry units or ED if possible.
Any tips for relocation? Any particular hospitals that are new grad friendly? Thanks in advance!

We just moved to Greensboro, NC a couple weeks ago from Waialua, HI. I accepted a position with Cone Health back in May for their OR residency starting next week. I was really surprised that they hire from out of state since Hawaii was such the opposite being saturated with overqualified nurses. I had never been to the area before but husband had lived in the State a couple years while in the military and loved NC. So far I really like it. People are nice, practically no traffic, and lots to do.
I did already have my BSN and NC license by the time I applied though. I did not have acute care experience but have been an RN for 3 years (previously worked in college health and family medicine clinics). So far my experience with Cone has been great. Especially considering I did every but the interview remotely from Hawaii. Feel free to pm me if you want the number to their HR recruiters.
JillyRN, I am not sure how to message on here, but I was hoping I could ask you a few questions about Cone Health's OR residency program! I will be graduating in 6 months, and was hoping to move to NC from Chicago. I really want to get into the OR, and I would appreciate any information about their program.

I just sent you a private message.
Hey,
I live in Durham, and have been struggling for MONTHS to get anyone to look at my application. Now I work at Wake Forest Baptist, which is an amazing hospital, but SOOOOO far away. I have an interview for Cone Health for BUrlington ED. Anyone have any thoughts on this. Should I go. Is it a good place to work? ED is my dream job. Is Cone Health a good place to go? And is the ED a good place to start as a new grad.

have nothing to contribute toward finding a new grad position in NC, but just want to say as a BSN nursing student in CO, I am considering the move to NC with my family when I graduate. It is encouraging to hear that there are possibly jobs out there! Jobs are scarce in CO for new grads, there are so many nursing schools here. I also miss the ocean and my family lives in the South. Could any of you NC nurses comment on areas in general? My husband loves the Asheville area (though no beach, but hey it's driveable
). He works in IT, so am hoping if we can't find something in that area, then maybe in the Triangle?
