The employment market for LVNs in southern CA has been glutted with too many people looking for work since 2009, and perhaps sooner. To be concise, there is no nursing shortage in CA.
My advice is to walk into every SNF, nursing home, home health company, agency, hospice, and private duty company within a 50 mile radius of your home. Walk in during customary business hours (Mon through Fri from 9:00am to 5:00pm) while dressed professionally. Bring more than one copy of your resume, cover letter and/or professional portfolio with you.
The cold-calling approach of walking in while nicely dressed might result in an on-the-spot interview. If you have not found a job within the first year, you may want to consider relocating to a state where LVN job opportunities are more abundant for new grads. Good luck to you.
