Hello everyone.

I am a new grad...studying to take NCLEX (next week). I have a job lined up, and will start on Feb. 7th....my question is this....my husband and I want to start a family, but I also want to make sure I have some "footing" in my new carrer first, plus, I don't want to appear unethical, or unprofessional. I am 31, and anxious to have our first child. How long is ok to wait until becoming pregnant? Is waiting 6 months, then getting pregnant and having the baby a little after a year being on the floor ok? :uhoh21: :chair:

sounds fine to me. makes the most of any benefits you would get, too. good luck to you!!

Give yourself one year and then get pregnant. I think the first year seems overwhelming....

But then I had kids when I was in school so I was always overwhelmed anyway!

Thanks for asking this question! I graduate in May, am 30, and eager to start a family. In Tn if I work one year I get 12 weeks maternity as opposed to only 6 weeks if i haven't worked for the hospital full-time for a year. I guess we will just have to wait and see what feels right after 6 months or a year.
