New grad with a BSN salary?

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hi all. I'm currently living in Texas. My fiancé has been stationed at Fort Campbell. We plan on moving to either TN or KY. Not sure yet.

I heard from one person that new BSN grads get paid $19/hour in East TN and that it isn't much higher throughout the rest of the state. That's far too low and this is why we're contemplating moving to KY instead. However, I'd like to hear what others have to say instead of going off one persons statement. If anyone works or knows someone that works in NW Tennessee, what do new grads usually get paid? Thanks in advance.

I am moving from NJ next month and have had multiple phone interviews. I have 8 years experience, a BSN, and a certification in my specialty and my highest quote so far was $29.50. I know cost of living is lower but with so many people moving to the Nashville area daily the cost of homes and what not in the surrounding towns has gone up. I don't know how we are going to afford a home. I'm contemplating switching careers at this point. Nursing is a lot of work and although I do enjoy what I do, I feel other professions get paid the same, if not more there, and is less work.

Specializes in ER.

TN doesn't pay well, at all. $19/hr is spot on. I don't think KY does either unless you work at a rural hospital.

Chattanooga is $20-23 for new grad RN.
