New Grad-- Applying for jobs

Hi~

I graduated in May and recently took the NCLEX in August. I live in New Jersey and have been going to the different hospital websites looking for jobs and many of them want experience. So, my question: is it better to contact the nursing recruiter directly or simply apply for the jobs that are listed on the website?

I applied for a job on the site and then a recruiter called me. I don't think it'd hurt to contact them directly though. Good luck!

Hi~

I would apply for an RN position and then call the recruiter.

After I filled out my online app.....I received a call from the recruiter, who told me they will contact me again in about a week for an interview. A week rolled by, no call, so I called them, they said "oh, we've been busy, we'll call you next week." I waited and waited, no call. I called them back again and was told the same thing. This went on for a few weeks.

To make a long story short, I called the recruiter on a weekly basis until I got an interview. Sometimes you have to be assertive and let these people know how interested you are. Just filling out an application and waiting for the job sometimes doesn't always work. :wink2:

One Jersey nurse to another, you need to ride them, even as an experience nurse they still take forever, I say call em. Plus there are a lot of hiring freezes going on in NJ be mindful of that..
