Hi! Im waiting to hear back from a school for their Direct Entry Program to become an FNP. I know that the RNs are having trouble finding jobs but Im wondering how the new grad FNPs are doing? I sometimes try to find stuff online just to see whats out there here in Boston and it seems that everything needs 2-5 years experience as an NP at least... Are you new FNP grads finding job?
Thanks!

I have the same question about NP job opportunities.
I can't find a job as an RN, so I decided to go for FNP. However, I am afraid that it is also hard to find a job for a new grad FNP.
I know! No one seems to be replying.. maybe its because they are all working!

At the Univ of Virginia Medical Center, all Direct Entry NPs are competing for the same Clinician I (entry level nurses) as are ADN and BSN graduates. The only place I have heard that are hiring the direct entry FNP grads are in ReadyClinics in CVS stores to work weekends.
I found this:

I graduated in August 2009, passed the ANCC FNP exam late November, and received my license in late December, 2009. I landed my first job in the beginning of February 2010. I also have over 12 years of RN experience, with 10 being in the ED.

I had no trouble finding a job as a direct entry NP grad in MA when I graduated last May. However, I don't know if the market has changed since then.
I should also add that I did not begin my job search until after New Year's.
