Iam Dave and Iam an RPN residing here in Toronto ON. Life has been tough the past few months for me being out of work as I was "let go" from my rehab hospital of 14 + years. Iam 42 in July and have been regulated nursing since june 2004. Iam wondering if there may be hope moving to another proovince and trying a fresh start or leaving the country with my family to rebuild what we have "lost" essentially.

Iam also wondering could I return to the class room to enhance my skills and merit and make me a more marketable nurse

with this profession of choice. It is a fine art YES I will admit and I have been lucky. I have come this far and I think much more may be coming my way not to mention my little guy Kai David who turns 8 months next month

His mother would like to attempt the PSW to get her onboard with basic care duties. I think she would be fantastic as she is the best mother I will say.

Iam into meeting people all over so please leave me a message if you can

Thanks for your time

Regards

Hi Dave and welcome to the site

Be aware that LPN may not get you into other countries to work as generally RN is the requirement

I would recommend that you upgrade to RN if you are thinking about leaving the country. At my hospital here in the US they dont hire RPN's....but then with the economy they are not even hiring RN's..

Specializes in ICU, ER.

What about other areas in Ontario? In the Ottawa and Kingston areas (these are not the only places I'm sure) they are essentially replacing RNs with RPNs to cut costs...
