Ok so i had been accepted to a private Lpn to Rn school but the cost it going to be way too much for me to afford. since my hubby is deploying i can devote a good amount of time to studying and taking care of my kids AND i'd be able to work (wouldnt be able to work if i went to the private school) without having to do my "wifey" lol duties! I have to take A&P, Micro, and the nursing classes. I decided to start with A&P but i'm nervous and i dont really know how much time to take to study it all. I dont want to drad it all out i am the type that needs a type of schedule so that i stay on track. Can anyone give me any ideas or suggestions on how you studied for each test? I downloaded the content guides from EC so i know what to study i just dont know how to break it all down. I really want my RN and I truely believe that I can do this and take the tests well if i just had some sort of lesson plan/time table. I want to try to get all the tests take (except for the CPNE) by the time my husband returns from his deployment. (15 months) Can someone help me??? Thanks so much!

Anyone???? even a break down of the current class you are taking would give me some idea! thanks!

I don't know about A/P or Micro, but I have done NC 1 and taking NC 3 on Tuesday... I would utilize one of the publishing companies study guides such as The College Network or chancellor's. You can get them on ebay/amazon.com. What I do with my study guides is break it up into sections. i.e. if you want to be through the guide within 10 days, paper clip 10 sections and do one section or more per day. I usually go through and read/highlight. Then I give myself 10 more days to focus on each area. Then I do practice test A through Excelsior ($60) and see what areas I'm weak in.

You may also want to get an A/P book from the library or something so you can refer to pictures. I hope this helps and makes sense.

Hey thanks for your reply. I do have the TCN study guides, but A&P was just soooo overwhelming i decided to borrow an A&P textbook from one of the PA's i work with. He said he used it in both PA school and Medic school(Army program) and i've already found the info to read for the first section in his A&P book today at work. I think that's a great idea to just paper clip off sections, never thought of that! I dont know how long of a time i shoudl give myself to complete A&P since there is sooooo much info and memorizing. I just wish someone on here who has taken it would respond. Like i said before i have the nursing modules and A&P and Micro to do only, plus the CPNE, and my goal is to have them all completed within 15 months while hubby is deployed! I think i'll do better just to study one at a time and test that way rather than trying to do two classes at once. I just hope what my goal is, is feasible! thanks again!

You know that you can take all the gen ed test and 1st nursing exam and NOT be enrolled in EC and saving that money!

You have to be enrolled to complete all the other nursing exams as well as FCCA and CPNE.

This might save money in the long run. Also check into Clep test, they cost about 65.00 or so and many of the gen ed test can be clepped.

Hope this helps!

So if i were to CLEP A&P would that still count towards EC? I thought you had to take the EC exams only??? i guess i'm a little confused! thanks for the info though!

There isn't a CLEP test for A&P. Available CLEP tests are listed here:
