I heard a rumor that University of Miami was going to open up a new CRNA program. Has anyone else heard of this?

Yes, one of the CRNA's I work with told me that University of Miami was going to open a CRNA or AA program in the next few years.

Only heard the rumor about the AA program at UM....this would make it four programs in the Miami area.....good luck finding clinical sites if this happens.

I checked out their website and it says they're working on getting accreditation for a new CRNA program some time in 2005, and they expect to begin the program in the fall of '05 if they get accreditation. How many students do anesthesia programs normally admit to each class? Do they have many teaching hospitals in Miami? Considering that there are already quite a few students from the other three programs in various stages of the clinicals, won't this seriously affect the availability of clinical spots as well as the quality of each program?

Apart from that, the university of Miami is one REALLY expensive school(almost $3,500 per graduate lecture course, plus the cost of the clinicals)!!! That's right up there with the big name Ivy League schools like Harvard. It blows my mind to think about the amount of loans a student would have to get to do the CRNA program at a school like this.
