new and confused about what class i need to take

:confused: hi,i am brand new here,and its wonderful to meet you all.i am confused on what to do.i am checking into taking classes for practical nurseing,they also offer patient care technician programs.would it benifit me to take hte patient care class then take the pn class.or should i not bother to take both?? if it is not going against the rules here,can i ask if a practical nurse actually makes a good living,or is it not very much income? i am really up in the air on it right now.i know for shure i want to do this,just not shure if i should do both or not. and i am now 33 and i feel by the time i get out of school i will be pretty old to take schooling for a long time.thank you so much,and i am sorry to go on and on.

It might be a good idea to take the pt. care tech class first, so you can work as a PCT while going to school to become an LPN. That's what I did 3 yrs. ago-I took a nursing assistant class at the American Red Cross & then worked as a nursing assistant at a hospital while I went to school to become a nurse-& I just graduated with my BSN. I think it's a good idea to start off slowly & take your time & enjoy learning-but you should do what you feel comfortable with doing. Good luck to you, :)
