Hi everyone, I came here to look for advice because I know there are more people here that have gone through what I'm going through. I am nineteen years old and want to become a nurse. I decided to become a CNA to be able to pay for college without much of my parents' help. I just became certified by the state of Florida in August . I have been applying everywhere in Miami and have not been able to get a job due to my lack of experience. Just how am I suposed to get experience if nobody will hire me because I don't have any?
The truth is that everyone who comes to Miami from a foreign country usually becomes a CNA as soon as they get here, and because of this there is not really a CNA shortage in Miami, there are many experienced CNAs here. So what should I do? I don't want to give up on my dreams. I am making plans on starting on my pre reqs for an ASN program at MDC this spring, any tips for me on getting a job as an inexperienced CNA?

I'm in the same exact boat, except I haven't challenged the exam yet. But that's my plan as well. I have a few friends that are MAs and CNAs, they did a ton of calling Dr.'s offices and LTC/retirement facilities. You could also try calling a few medical staffing agencies, maybe a professional could help you find the right setting to get on your feet! I've already found a couple here in Tampa I plan on calling as soon as I pass!
Good luck on your ASN and job hunt!!
Ugh!!! But all the agencies around here require two years of experience as well. I'm going crazy here.

No problem at all! I'm so glad to hear you got it! Good luck with the job!!
