New Case Manager

I am a new case manager and am really overwhelmed. I never realized that there were so many moving parts to discharge planning. I work with a helpful group of people but they have their own case load. I was told that it would take a year before I would feel comfortable but I am really doubting myself.

Doubting yourself is a good thing, it keeps you vigilant.  Making a big mistake at this point would be far worse than just not getting everything done. Doubt others also, discharge planning is all about handing off care to some other agency so follow up follow up follow up.

Yes, there are a lot of moving parts to the case manager role. Many of which you have no control over. When I started, my manager told me that it would probably take 2-3 yrs before I would feel comfortable.
