New BSN program- Accredidation troubles?

Hi all,

The school I attend has a well-established ADN and online RN-BSN program. This fall, they began offering a BSN (prelicensure) program in lieu of the ADN. The new BSN program is provisionally accredited by the state BON, but not by NLNAC or CCNE. Would this hinder my future plans of obtaining a masters degree? Finding a job?

In your opinion, would you look elsewhere to get your degree?

My program is like yours, they just had their first BSN class graduate in May. They received their CCNE accreditation (for that specific program) a month or 2 later. It was my understanding that they had to graduate a class first before they could receive accreditation. Are the other programs accredited? I think this is more of a call on what you feel comfortable with, I can't say yes they will receive it but I would think that if their other programs have the accreditation then you should be fine. :)

Any way you slice it, it's some degree of a gamble, and as far as I know if you graduate a non-accredited program and they receive accreditation afterwards it does not apply to you (I could be wrong about that but that's what I recall).

If you are planning on working out of state, going for a higher degree, or receiving federal aid at any point in your career, I would seriously think about this.

You are incorrect. You are grandfathered in and it applies to graduates as well

I regard to graduate school and financial aid? Do you have a reference, as I would like to actually read the policy. Not that I doubt you but I know someone I a grad school dilemma and I would like to pass it on.

I'm sorry I don't have reference. This was just told to me by my nursing chair.
