Anyone attend American University of Health Sciences in Long Beach, CA??? I just found the website today. Does the school look shady? Here is the link to the school site: http://www.auhs.edu/index.html I looked on the ca.gov site and did not find it listed as an accredited school which makes me weary about the program. I would contact said people for the school but they will obviously be promoting like heck beit I think its a trade school. Just wondered if anyone either attended or goes there now or atleast heard of the school.
I will give my phone number by e-mail.
I recently inquired and I am completely turned off. Initially the Rep was pleasant and encouraging, but now I am
wondering if this school is SCAMMING from what reviewers have written like yourself and what you have experienced.
If there is anything following suit to this for legal action, I am interested in knowing. Some things that were relayed that I am
absolutely NOT fond of. Also, the school is not listed on the "Better Business Bureau."

Please, stay away from for-profit schools that are not "traditionally" known for their academic curricula. If they are charging you the tuition of the Ivies, you should be getting comparable dividends for your investment, including prestige.
If a "school" has to be listed in the BBB, then it is a merchant/business institution, NOT an educational institution. I better stop here because the things that I have to say about these squalid entities come with many, many bleep, bleep, bleep, bleeps.
Current student please reply. I would like to know how the tests are and if the professors prepare students well or is it mostly independent study. The 90% pass requirement for the exit exam sound challenging. Are students well prepared or given multiple chances. I want to know the inside info before I invest in this school.
you may have overlooked--i found this school from brn website.
i do not think you were talking about auhs though--the school has a pharm tech program(none-degree program) in the catalog, but the nursing program offered at auhs is bsn.
it would not have taken me more than 2 years to finish a lvn program.
anyway, i will be graduating from the program in 2014 with a bs degree. :):)
I heard about the policy from the Financial Aid before i signed my enrollment. She actually was happy about the new policy. She said it showed to her and many future candidates that the school was improving and learned from mistakes.
Seriously a lot of private schools (like Dental, Rx, MD, Law and etc.) require a deposit, but asking the money before knowing whether or not a student could get a loan to start a program is a bad practice. What I saw admirable about the school in this case is they actually admitted their fault.
nice.

From experience, I have learned the most at AUHS compared to traditional college and my professors are and have been brilliant. They are experienced nurses and dieticians and pharmacists who care about your progress and care that you pass the NCLEX, which is reflective from our NCLEX scores. The small class sizes make AUHS personal, not only in regards to student-professor relationships, but also student-student relationships and student-staff relationships. If you ever need help with ANYTHING, someone is always there to point you in the right direction. Yes tuition is a bit high, but education is an investment, so it's really how much you value your education and how much you are willing to put forth.
Hello,
I'm currently 3 week old student in AUHS's BSN Program.
Here's what the tests are like:
A test almost every class meeting (as expected in a quarter system & an accelerated program). Imagine it as if you're taking a summer class. It's that fast. But that's what I personally want because I want my degree as soon as possible. It's mostly independent study because there's A LOT of chapters to cover within a short time and the teachers can't cover all of it in class. But if you have questions, you can always email/see your teacher or ask for tutoring from them. They don't mind.
How the teachers are like:
Depends on what teacher you have. My pharmacology teacher is great! She reviews with us at least a week before every quiz and even gives us the answers (not during the test of course). Some other teachers just give us a study guide on what's going to be on the quiz. Some have a tendency to talk too much on stuff unrelated to the topic. Some give out study guides last minute and have questions in there that don't even show up on the quiz. (So that makes that study guide useless.) However, I discovered that most of the teachers have a question bank from the
